Japan reminds us....

This time last week Japan was living their lives like normal.  They were going about daily life with no inkling it was about to change drastically, soon

I now look around my beautiful home and think "this is so temporary", it can be gone in an instant.   Of course, I know it is temporary but I need to be prompted occasionally.

I do not want to be depressing,  just sharing my reminder that earthly things are earthly!

Make your life count for non-material stuff.

ps. This scripture touched me on Grateful Heart's blog about the road being unsure.
Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." ~ Isaiah 30:21 NIV

You are so right. It is the saddest thing to watch things unfold there. I've never seen such devastation even in the other tsunami's. My heart breaks for the lost and for the survivors. Life will never be the same. The survivor stories coming out now are awesome how some of these survived.

A very timely and true reminder, Kim. We don't know what the next moment holds for us, but as the old song says, we can know who holds our hands.

Great post, Kim, and SO true. Life can change for ANY of us--in an instant... That is why we need to live to its fullest each and every day....

Japan should be an example for all of us... They are such calm people --who are doing the best they can under the circumstances... You don't seen any looting or griping or screaming at all...I admire them.

Hugs,
Betsy

So right. I did a post about this same topic not too long ago. This life, this in-between God's original, perfect creation, and His New Heaven and New Earth...is really is just a moment. Eternity is where it's at, and all you can take with you is love and relationships. So... I would work on those things! Great post.

We are told to store up our treasures in heaven, not on earth. This can be so hard for some because the earth is where we live right now. Grateful Heart has a stunning blog, I left her a comment.

I've had similar thoughts since the Japan tragedy. It has reminded me how temporary this life is and I should always be eternity-focused.

It is good to remember that this is but our temporary home, and God is in control. I am praying for Japan, and that this may be an opportunity for many to seek and find our Savior. In such times, people search for truth. Thank you for the link to Grateful Heart. God bless you.

Hi, You are right 100% I am so worried about the ongoing crisis in Japan. I find myself praying all day for them. The people in the reactors and the volunteers are the real hero's. Not the NFL or people fighting about money. May God bless them and everyone.
I think I owe you a post about my Mom and her MS. I talked to my mother and she was happy that people wanted to hear her story, not that it is very exciting (she said that)!! LOL. Do you still want it? I'm sorry I didn't get it to you sooner.

It's so true, Kim. We never know what might happen. It's heartbreaking to see the great tragedy in Japan. I've shared a poem about it on my blog.

What a great verse to share. Disasters always bring out the pensive side in me. A lot to think about, be thankful for, and learn from.

A good focus on what is Real.

Our prayers go up for all.

Japan affected me that way, too. To be living a "normal" life one moment and the next to have your life, home, loved ones swept away with no warning. I just can't get my head to wrap around what that must be like.

It is so important that we hold on to this material world lightly and put our firm grasp on the promises of Scripture.
